I was once considered one of the most organised people you could ever meet. A Little secret: it lies in the discipline. Being organised is everything to me; it allows me to function at my best, and it is one of my skills that sets me apart. In fact, the busier I am, the happier and more organised I am.
So, be organised, be a planner.
What is organisation?
Organisation is about creating your world. Stay with me, your organisational skills impact more than your daily life, they shape your environment, determine your mindset and creates your day.
Why turn a page on your Organisational Journey?
For me, it was my mental health. I don’t do well with chaos, whether it is my environment or schedule, a lack of direction has an impact on how I feel. When I am organised, I gain clarity, reduce stress, and build a sense of control over my life.
Being organised isn’t just about neat spaces and to-do lists; it’s about creating an environment that supports your well-being. Imagine waking up to a clutter-free space, knowing exactly what’s on your agenda, and moving through your day with intention rather than overwhelm. Small shifts make a difference, and the journey is yours to shape.
Without foundations, things may feel unstable and can become scattered, which results in feeling overwhelmed. That can create anxiety. Having structure, life can flow with ease. Small shifts can result in structure, controlling the controllable, and achieving your daily priorities can be very empowering.
Find your reasons? Is it daily life, structured mornings, or something that has to change overall?
Manageable Change
- Start with one area – don’t be an overachiever
Transformation begins with focus. Start by looking at one area of your life at a time, choose one space, focus on the small wins and grow from there. Consider your workspace, closet, and weekly schedule. Start with something small that is not going to take too long.
2. Two-minute rule
If a task is only going to take a minute, maybe two, do it immediately. They are easy win tasks, washing up a cup, clearing your emails, you can see the results very quickly and can provide a sense of achievement. They also make life a little easier, which we all need.
3. Anchor new habits
Integrate change into what you are already doing. Use your current routine and slightly amend, binge watching your favourite show, while on the walking pad, switching coffee for herbal tea, or use some downtime to define your goals. Small changes can transform your routines into long-term growth.
- Let go of perfectionism
A reminder I need frequently. Complete a task and make progress, even if it is not perfect; it builds momentum. Progress fuels growth and more progress. It keeps you moving in the right direction, progressing toward your end goals.
- Change your mindset
Don’t think of organisation as a hassle or a chore, change your thinking and consider it self-care. It’s creating your environment that reflects your values, designs your life, and supports who you are and where you want to go.
By implementing these strategies, you begin to establish the essential building blocks of a more organised and intentional lifestyle.
